The name Andy Hope is a blending of Andy Warhol and Dorian Hope, while 1930 represents an exciting year with a new form of illustration through comic books and the introduction of super heroes. This choice in name intentionally represents Andy Hopes entire body of work: stylistic clashes, distinct yet interwoven times

The artwork for this deck is directly inspired from Ai Weiwei’s iconic ‘Sunflower Seeds’ installation at the Tate Modern in 2010

Paul McCarthy did a series of performances between 1972 and 1983 involving masks

the diversity of images caught by Araki’s lens document Tokyo’s duality in its intense bursts of energy versus its inhuman emptiness

Despite the amount of controversy surrounding Araki’s career

when they were photographed separately

seeking to empower the people through democratic values within society

we are very happy to produce this edition of In Italian on skateboards as part of our new collaboration with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat
